The Jim Crow laws began in 1876. The Jim Crow Laws are laws that state what colored people can and can't do. Jim Crow laws were enforced in Southern states, like Louisiana. Jim Crow laws are public schools,places, transportation, and even fountains. Jim Crow was more than just laws it was a way of life. Blacks were thought of as second-class and inferior to whites.
Some examples of Jim Crow Laws:
1.) A black male could not shake hands with a white male.
2.) Blacks and whites were not supposed to eat together.
3.) Blacks were not to be given courtesy titles( Ms, Mrs, Mr, Sir).
4.) Colored must not sit in the whites section on trains and buses.
